Hacks for life via MakeUseOf.com Posted by Devin Willis

Man I love the  makeuseof discoveries. All listed websites are free (or  free account option).  Some of my favorites  are:

CallingAmerica - Make free calls to America & Canada from abroad. There is absolutely nothing to download or install, you only need broadband internet connection and headset.

Faxzero - send free fax to anywhere in the U.S. and Canada

Doitdoitdone - Dead simple to-do list app. In just two clicks you can start creating your to-do list for the day. A URL is created for your to-do list and you could bookmark it and then keep modifying your to-do list as and when possible

For many, many more  click here

I hope you find these helpful!

Reinventing the Clipboard: discusses why the Windows clipboard needs to be rethought and even better, links to a cool tool (Clipx) that provides a multi-entry clipboard.

TIP: Compressing Virtual PC images: Craig's tips are always great and this one saves lots of disk space.

Why Your Business Must Be on the First Page of Google: yes, it's marketing, but since we're all involved in marketing one way or another, you might as well figure out how to do it better. Mike's blog has lots of useful tips and I found this article really interesting.

Evolve Your User Interface To Educate Your Users: the Smashing Magazine blog is mostly web-oriented but is almost always interesting. However, the ideas in this post are also applicable to making desktop apps easier to use.

I also think many people will find Eric Hebert's "The 50 Most Popular Web Design Blog Posts, Resources & Cheat Sheets of 2007" very helpful

Award winner shares a few hacks for balancing your life by the week

In our local newspaper , I read some great advice about some great life hacks to balance life from the winner of Athena Award .

"..The award honors those who excel in their profession, improve the quality of life for others in the community and assist women in reaching their full potential.."

Here are some of Linda Walton's tips from the article:

You have to keep a sense of humor.

You can't be offended by everything everyone says.

Never give anyone a chance to think something bad about you. For example, if you're having lunch with a man, have it in a pubic place or with a third person.

Take things in stride. "The reality is that life isn't fair for anybody."

Spending time with family -she travels with her husband, carves pumpkins with her two grandkids and takes care of her cats.

Be involved in service of others- "..The couple is involved with Best Friends Animal Society and She pushes for change, in part, by volunteering at the Food and Care Coalition, and serving on the board of directors for both the Mountain Valley chapter of the Red Cross and the United Way of Utah County..."

We can learn much from others example and apply aspects to ours making it a happier and more productive!

Let me know how this has helped you?
